I just got my lovely Inno3D GeForce GTX 780Ti iChill DHS Today and got the high idle clocks when using 144hz (I also had this with AMD but the jump wasn't as big)

Anyway I have a work around for this. Select 120hz in the Nvidia control panel and use that for normal 2d use. Then in the Nvidia control panel make a profile for your games (Global may work but I like to use profiles) and set the fresh rate to "highest available"

Now your 2d hz will be 120 and 3d (gaming) will be 144.

Good to know, my friend has this same problem but has always just ran his games at 120Hz. I'll pass it on to him.
I only run 120Hz so have no problems.

How are you finding the card?

A beast. 1205mhz boost out of the box (no overclocking)

Hmm knew it was issue on 600 series but assume it would be fine on 700 series.

As 144HZ becomes more common surely new Gen GPU's will need address this.

They sort out the higher idle clock with dual monitors or monitor+TV at idle correct?

I should have tried at 120-160HZ on my FW900 with 680 and 780Ti before it went out of focus (on back up screen now).

I do not want this issue when I get a ROG Swift and even desktop use will feel slow after CRT's.

Dunno if its because of the high refresh rate but i know idle clocks are 3d/high clocks when using dual or more monitors. Tis why i run the desktop only off the cpus onboard hd 4000 as you dont need a gfx card for desktop use and it keeps my 670 idle clocks low.

You would think in this day and age that nvidia or ati would allow you to set idle and full clocks manually by now or at least through nvidia inspector or somit and amds equiv.

Inno3d have apparently said that they expect the cards to hit 1300 with no worries, I'm going to have a stab this weekend lol

**Edit**

Did you get the TuneIt software with yours? I use AB or precision but I would like to have a look at the inno3d offering. It's not on the driver disk and I can't find a live dl anywhere.

No I don't think I did, I have had it up to 1300mhz with no voltage adjustment.
