144Hz - Max clocks

What monitor have you got? The ROG Swift for example has a button on the side for changing the hz.

On my old Asus 144Hz screen, connected by DVI, my memory clock used to go max when using 144Hz when i had a 290X, so idle was 300/1250 (normals 300/150), dropping back to 120Hz solved it, but when i switched to the BenQ XL2730Z connected by DP, the clocks were fine on 144Hz, proper idles of 300/150.

No need, go to nvcp andset refresh option in game as 'highest possible' and Windows desktop to run at 100 or 120hz, now it should switch to 144hz in game, dropping back to 120hz in Windows.

Just done this thanks, is their any thing else I need to change is their a seperate option for windows desktop in that part of the settings or do I just leave the monitor on 120Hz in the nvidia panel

This does not work with windowed or full screen window mode in my experience.

True, as it should revert anything windowed to desktop refresh, though Tbh the difference between 120 and 144hz is negligible at best, IMO 144hz sole purpose is to deliver 72hz in 3d :)

At 144Hz if I unplug my other monitor my clocks will go back to normal idle speeds but if I plug it back in at 144Hz they will go up again
