If I'm looking at a new monitor. I game playing everything from footy manager to BF1 to Fallout 4.

For gaming what's the better option, to get a 1440 res screen or a screen that will do 144Mhz refresh? Which one would give me a better gaming experience than what I have now 24" 1080p monitor. I feel my 980Ti is a little hindered by the screen I have and getting a new screen would let the GPU stretch its legs a bit more.

I'll be honest, I'm a little confused with screens, not sure what to be looking at hence the question about 144hz or 1440 resolution.

Budget would be in the 300 mark

yeah looking to move up from 24" to at least 27" ort even 30"

So the general consensus is if possible go both 1440 AND 144 Hz but if not then 1440 as a starting point. Ok now to see what I can get bang for buck.

I'd really like to know what you consider / end up buying as I'm in a very similar situation. Coming from an ancient Samsung 226BW, I'm looking at a 27" IPS/VA panel at 75-100Hz+ but every time I start trawling through monitors around £300-£350 I end up at the £550-£600 mark very quickly :(

Aye me too. I feel I'm "missing out" just having a £300 budget. Madness I know. I'm also considering members market monitors too.

Yeah the Gsync tax is disgraceful. I can't actually believe the cost of monitors these days. Utterly mad. With the technology advances we have had in the last 10 years, a monitor hasn't really came down in price for tech advances (like GPUs do) but if anything has INCREASED in price!

I'll keep looking and report back when I get something, it might take me a few months though :/

It's got 7 x 4 star reviews so looks a good option, one reviewer states it can overclock to 70Hz which is nice. 32" is too big for the size of my desk, but I have been looking at the BenQ 27" version: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/benq...ing-flicker-free-monitor-black-mo-110-bq.html

I got excited to see OCUK promoting an Acer monitor sale this morning: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/moni...il&utm_term=0_c199b69777-6d8f9e726e-216559581

but majority of them are out of my budget, though for £100 more this has potential: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acer...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-095-ac.html

The BenQ one looks decent - I'll add that to my wishlist and see what else I can find...good spot.

The Acer is a freesync and not really good for me with a Nvidia 980Ti

Get a monitor and Vega gfx :)

I have twin toddlers mate, every penny I get goes on them. I wouldn't be able to afford a new gpu and monitor. I'm probably even going to go second hand if I can to save the cash. I could get a new monitor at a push but beans on toast for a month isn't appealing...just yet lol

Ta, yep I seen that one. Have to wait until June to get a screen as the twins beds need replacing :/ endless burning of cash with two babies
