Hi all,

I have been able to successfully get a pretty decent overclock on my 14900K.

I noticed that my OC became unstable when I removed my CPU temp limit of 90c I had in place.

I imagine that the temp limit was keeping the OC stable as it didn’t push things like clock and power as high with this in place.

Has anyone noticed temp affecting OC performance in such a way?

I am trying to get the max stable performance but don’t fancy adding any more voltage as it is already about the maximum I feel comfortable with.

Have you watched buildzoid's rambles on the subject?
I did watch this actually. Will have to have another look at it as he does tend to ramble! I remember he did say that a temp limit can assist in stability. Thanks for the reminder.

More likely your desired OC wasn't stable for sustained periods, temp limit throttled clocks down which is why it was fine.

what overclock was stable before? You could set a fixed voltage and work from there
I was using TVB to get 6GHz stable all core under 80C using an aggressive temperature offset. Seems to work well with the 90C limit, so probably needs more voltage. I have added +0.030V to voltage points 8,9 and 10 on the V/F curve that got me stable before removing the 90C temp limit. Other than that I am using auto voltages and LLC level 6 which gives 1.475V adaptive voltage. I have not used a fixed voltage yet in any testing.

I guess for 6ghz all core your running custom water cooling ?
