14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh"

Well the 14900K is going to be pointless in a way if a 14900KS follows shortly after.

Does anyone know if the whole product stack will be Raptor Lake refresh or a split Alderlake/Raptorlake like the 13th gen as their could be some good buys/upgrades lower down the stack.

You could argue every CPU is pointless, as there'll always be a replacement coming at a later date. Whether it's 3 months of 12 months between releases, it's inevitably going to be superseded. Then it's just bragging rights "I had top CPU for 12 whole months" - who cares? :D

Anyhow, no rumours of a 14900KS so far. So probably just the 14900k until Arrow Lake with it's new naming scheme (no 15th gen).

Intel sometimes release the same chip 12 months later. Sometime even a worse chip with a new naming scheme.

You never know with Intel.

Wasn’t this the case for AMD with the ryzen 5600 coming 18 months after the 5600X with the exact same specs except worse clocks.

Still not confirmed but no surprised if true.

Sadly, no that would not be too surprising......

Apart from the 14700k the rest look kinda "meh" to me. Then again it depends on your use as to whether the extra e cores for that one will make much of a difference. But it is only a refresh, with a possible price hike.

I wouldn't say it had the exact same specs if it had lower clocks. The 5600 was just AMD selling off lower binned chips at a lower price

I think a better comparison would be the 3600/3800X and 3600/3800XT.
I've never really understood the KS model. Maybe if you're an x-treme overclocker, or are going for some ultra-undervolt for a smaller system? Otherwise, it seems it's mostly bragging rights.

Intel Core i9-14900K 6.0 GHz ES CPU shows up in first CPU-Z test, 8-10% faster than Core i9-13900K

This is surprising - the improvement over 13900K and KS look too large to explain. This would only make sense if the 14900k has much lower voltage, or improved thermals, enabling it to sustain 6Ghz for longer.

Looking forward to official reviews and of course the power consumption testing!

Dam only just bought a 13900K 29 days ago, still sealed, for upcoming build, to late to send back and wait you think ?, first upgrade since 2015 6700K, so can wait a little more.

Probably wouldn't have gone for the 13 series with the 14 series only a month or so away. If it was me and i could still return it, i would wait and see what the 14 series is like. Might even get some price drops/sales on the 13 series once the 14 series is out also.

However, it doesnt look like the difference will be that huge so you may want to save the hassle and just keep it.

Until a few weeks ago, i did not even know the 14 series was coming out, i should have researched.

EDIT: Just spoke to nice guy at Overclockers, unfortunately i missed the 14 day return policy, at least i tried, so i know i could not have exchanged anyway, never mind.

Kinda psyched for the 14700k if it has similar performance to a 13900k. Will be nice to upgrade from my 12700k one last time before the board becomes EOL for this gen.

I'll probably do the same if I ever feel the need to upgrade. I won't be buying a 14700k on release though as I don't feel I need anymore than what the 12700k offers atm.

It's easy to start looking at graphs and telling yourself it will be a massive bump in performance but in reality, probably won't notice much difference in many games at 4k.

Yeah same, im heavily invested in Starfield right now and i know intel plays better so gonna wait and see how 14th gen performs before jumping ahead. BUT will more than likely purchase in the US with a good conversion rate i can probably get it for quite abit cheaper either from Rainforest US or BB.
