14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh"

Hi there

These are now live and in stock:

All orders will ship from tomorrow to comply with NDA. (Hence showing pre-order on website), but we have ample stock!

Prices are aggressive, i9 is marginally quicker than 13th gen but with much better memory support. i7 is a lot faster as you get more cores than previous i7 generation and i5 is marginally quicker again. Memory support is far improved over 13th gen in both capacity and overclocking across 14th gen.
Nice, better memory support is exactly what I was hoping for.

I’m pretty tempted to get the 14900k but it’s not showing under supported cpus on the Asus website for the strix z690 d4

There was a bios update the other day which says Update Microcode for next-gen Intel Processors so I presume it will work but just want to make sure

I wouldn't be too worried, just checked my z790 and 14th gen aren't showing on the support list yet.

I'm using MSI's cheapest z690 board and the compatibility is already listed on the site.

Might pick up a 14700k second hand or on a deal next year or the year after if I feel the need to upgrade and the latest CPUs aren't miles ahead for gaming at 4k by then.

Not a question, if it physically fits (LGA-1700) it'll work with BIOS update. BIOS updates available for all boards.

Doesn't necessarily mean it works well and/or potential BIOS update complications if buying a setup new and the board needs updating - there are still some which can't update without an existing compatible CPU.

Got Asus Z690i and its listed on there already, bios update been available for about a week now too. Gonna wait though incase there's any hiccups with the bios!

Reviews tomorrow are going to be interesting, especially with 115c mode enabled.
Is there even any air cooler able to tame that kind of heat output?

No idea but i got a 1080 rad waiting to allow this beast to unleash! Gonna think about thermal paste to use though, i'm a little tempted to apply LM this time round but then don't wanna ruin the nickel plating on my block.

I'm guessing we are not really expecting any efficiently improvements? Hopefully undervolting is worth while.

Have a 12700K which I have toyed with the idea of swapping but I undervolted, kept the power limit to 180W and cooled with a Noctua U12s. Not really interested in upping the power, although admittedly it rarely runs flat out to hit this.

There has been some minor node tweak so there might be a little more efficiency, especially if the DLVR has been implemented.
We'll see tomorrow I guess.

Nope, plenty of confirmations (techpowerup etc) that silicon is 100% unchanged, no DLVR, nothing. Literally just a 200Mhz bump over the 13900k, the same CPU as a 13900KS. 0 noticeable difference outside benchmarks.

argh, you monster!
I've just lost the last excuse to hold off my very over due upgrade :) ( realised earlier it's been 10 years since I last upgraded my CPU!).

and what would be the best memory support for 14600K?
