14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh"

Hi there

All pre-orders shall ship today!
We have 100's in stock on each model, we won't be running out ever and as the prices are same as 13th gen pretty much these will quickly replace them sales wise.

In short:
14900K matches or beats 13900KS for less money
14700K matches or gets close to 13900K for less money
14600K is a little faster than 13600K for same money.

All have superior memory overclocking and far better support for larger memory capacities, its a very minor bump performance wise but the prices are the same.
That’s good to know they will be shipped today. I ordered last night at 7.30 and it’s still saying allocated but I’m hopeful it’ll come tomorrow along with the other items I ordered :)

Same here though I ordered around 1am - still saying allocated.

EDIT: Changed to Order Processing as I posted.

If you have free shipping with OCUK, it's much safer to order each component individually. Speaking from experience, OCUK will hold back the order even if one £2 item on your order goes out of stock.

Yes I have free shipping so I selected that option. My other 2 items are showing in stock so hopefully nothing suddenly goes out of stock lol.

Ah nice! I’m not so lucky with mine changing yet boo

Mine is now processing hooray!

Getting desperate, have to agree.

Right.... same CPU but bigger number.

Quick glance at Tech Spot the 14900K is all but exactly the same as the 13900K, the biggest change is in power consumption, no...... its higher. Because Intel.

They just increased the power and renamed it the 14'th gen.

I'm not holding much hope mine will ship tonight to be honest, let alone turn up Wednesday.

When I checked just now they'd not even taken payment.
I can’t see it being shipped tonight and arriving tomorrow either. I was really hoping it would after Gibbo said they’d all be shipped today, never mind.

Mine still says processing

I was going to buy a 14700k to replace my 12600 non-k which was always meant to be a stopgap. I just can't live with the power draw of the 14700k after being spoilt with the low power draw of the 12600 while still giving excellent performance plus I am not going back to water cooling to keep the damn thing cool so I guess my trusty 12600 is going to have to soldier on for a good couple of years. It would have been nice for a upgrade to cost £400 rather than around a thousand for a complete platform change but that's the way things are right now.

Power draw really needs to be reigned in on CPU's and gpu's as it's getting ridiculous now. Things should be getting better not worse.

It is interesting how low power for the performance some of the lower end stuff can be in comparison - though generally with CPUs the power use goes up a lot as you get past the middle point, for ever decreasing performance gains.

I've got a J4125 based mini PC I'm using as a NAS replacement, with some tuning got the CPU/chipset below 1 watt idle and around 7-8 watt under load and performance is broadly similar to the Q6600 - a touch slower for some stuff, but faster for other stuff.

Intel are a node behind AMD so that’s why the power draw looks so bad right now, GPUs are a much closer contest but Nvidia’s efficiency looks better than it is in reality as they are selling low end cards as higher end models.

The power consumption is 3X higher, the problem is its a bad design, the core is 3X the size for similar performance and 3X the power.

Zen 3 and 4 cores are little bigger that Intel's E-Cores.

Looking at the HW unboxed review it seems the 14600K is more efficient than the 7700X but whereas AMDs core scale well Intels don’t and especially when the frequency is pushed on the higher end chips.

Difficult to know anything about that from the Hardware Unboxed review as they didn't publish any power consumption figures for productivity workloads.

GN did... the 7700X uses 1/3 the power of the 14700K.
