14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh"

I mean at least its not as bad as 11th gen, that was truly a waste of sand.

11th gen was actually faster in games compared to 10th gen, it had a new architecture, higher IPC, but less cores.

13th-14th is literally the same CPU, with a tiny clock bump that is at best single digits faster. i7 is the only decent offering, but needs a price cut.

The RAM and heatsink could be a bit fun and games fitting wise :s ummed and arrred over a PCIE5 NVME but I don't think I'd see any benefit (I've got a bigger SK Hynix Platinum coming as well).

EDIT: Though probably should have got a NVME without heatsink :s but I can always shove it in one of my other systems and get something else :s

11th gen was absolute rubbish , lost to the 10900k on most games and was a terrible upgrade from a 10900k and possibly a regression depending on what you played  The 14900k is not much better at all but at least it either matches or exceeds the 13900k and doesn't offer less performance in any of the games.... 14th gen is marginally better than 11th gen release although in reality both were a waste of time :o

any news on how well these 14th gen are selling, My upgrade to the 14600k is a no go by the looks of things and the only real upgrade i could get is the 14700k which is the only one I may be able to afford without selling my body. Looks like i need to raise some cash to get that one :(

Gibbo said they have loads of stock - at OcUK they've sold at least 11 14700K based on the web-site information and a few 14700KF though it doesn't show any KF sold today.

Going by the web-site details the 14900 seems to be outselling the 14700.

Come back with pics of your completed build.

The best thing about 14th gen is you can get £600 13900k performance for £400 now with the 14700k, given that a £500 7800XT offered 3 year old 6800XT performance for £100 less and seemed to be a hit then I’m surprised a defacto £200 price drop in just a year isn’t receiving more plaudits.

Going by your rig in your sig i wouldn't even bother, just stick with the 13600k and wait for the next iteration.

Or wait for 14700k to come down drastically in price and pick one up for cheap.

I thought this too, i don't get the hype over the 7800xt and why everyone is praising it. Aside from the price, it's literally the same gpu 3 years later at a lower price, what is there to applaud about that...

I guess why would you praise what is effectively a price reduction on a product, with a new label, on an EOL platform. I mean just go look back at the start of this thread from Q2 '22 to see the guessing that was going on about how revolutionary 14th Gen would be, it has become a marketing exercise and a way to reduce prices without looking like they are reducing prices to the share holders.

Doesn't the 13900k have more e cores ? So making it faster for productivity ?

Oh i agree it is the same CPU hence it at least can't be any worse and can only go upward where as the 11900K wasn't sure if it wanted to go up or down ( mostly down ) compared to the previous gen :p 14th gen or more specifically the 14900k is just a bad show from Intel , i can literally run a simple 200mhz oc on p cores and 100 on e core on my 13900K and will have the same performance and will still have £570 in the bank  all that being said i will still be interested in the 14900KS if it ever arrives but again expecting minimal gains at best but a nice clocking CPU would be handy to have and play with compared to my SP100 13900K.

No you don't, its slower than the 13900K.

So I took the plunge and replaced my 12900K with a 14900KF and I have to say whats all the fuss about with power and temps I am seeing?

I'm on a 360 AIO with "Typical scenario" for SVID set in bios and then a 0.07500 undervolt it maxed out at 1.288v running Cinebench R23 with a score of 41871 and the kicker a max temp if 77c lol it's cooler than my 12900K and also maxed out at 288w for Cinebench.

My Pcore SP score is 108 however I do not know how accurate that is I'm in Z690

also what is this arrow lake cpu in 8 months, like is that 15th gen?

Deffo worth waiting for the 15th gen in a few months

15th gen with 48 lanes compared with 28 of the latest Intel chipsets 13/14th.
