15 Minute Cities

This is from the Oxford Mail when the plan was originally proposed in 2022. Make of it what you will.....

Doesn't back up the "critics say" stuff you posted before, it's just another poorly worded attempt to make it sound like you aren't allowed to leave your neighbourhood, despite that not being the case.

It's all publicly available information, maybe go and inform yourself from the actual proposals and don't rely on news sites that depend on generating engagement.

A 15 second city would be too much if I had my own way and I'd never have to interact with any of the numerous ********* in our society again.

Ah, I never said you weren't permitted to leave your neighbourhood, just that you'd be restricted to 100 times per year if you wished to do so by car and that you'd need a permit to do so. The alternative route by car would be to drive out to the ringroad and re-enter elsewhere.

The permits are only related to travel through a handful of specific filter points during specific operating hours, not as per your original post which has a much broader claim.
, you can apply for a permit which will allow you to leave your sector 100 times per year by car in order to access another sector & these movements will be tracked by cameras with fines imposed for any transgressions.

You've swallowed this misinformation campaign hook line and sinker by the look of it, so I'm not going to waste any more time on this nonsense.

15mins cities occurs naturally when you relax planning laws. You basically let people build what they want, where they want within reasons (can't build a power plant in the city centre). So you can basically have a cafe anywhere in any street corner or residential areas. It's basically what Japan does.

You can take my bicycle from my cold dead hands... :D

Have bike will travel anywhere and everywhere (it has a basket and a bell). :p

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 15 minute city, all it means is you have everything you realistically need within 15 mins.

What Oxford is proposing is NOT a 15 minute city. It's a very aggressive mass traffic calming measure, it's very much a new take on a congestion charging zone/system.

To re-iterate, this has nothing to do with a 15 minuite city which is a town planning concept and has nothing to do with road pricing measures.

EDIT: if anything the 'proper' place for this is motors.

The town I live in I can get to anywhere in 15 minutes or less and have been able to for the past 15 years. (Outside of Rush hour)

That includes schools, DIY, motoring, Food, GP including an actual hospital. My work is even within 15 minutes.

15 minute cities are a waste of time. Start developing the villages and towns instead.

Cities are old badly thought out due to their centuries old age. Develop the towns like we did in the 60's with Harlow, MK, Letchworth, Stevenage etc but do it with modern thinking. It will be cheaper too.
