Basically my hosting with hosting-unlimited.net is up for renewal, and I hardly use it at all now so no point paying for all those features.

All I really need is a reliable host for my emails to my domain, host a couple of small blogs/diarys and host a few files, bout it really.

I am lucky in the sense that I get their elite package for £30 a year but... I want to save money lol :)

So if I was to spend £15, would I get anything worth while with good support if I need to contact them?

Cheers :D

£25/year :

# Up to 300 GB disk space
# Up to 3,000 GB bandwidth/month

godaddy.com

Hosted in USA, ping times arent as good as UK hosting but I've got 1 site hosted with them, so has a friend and we've had no problems.

Otherwise try the sticky in this section for best web-hosts, all rated by people on the forums

I have never been with GoDaddy but have used a lot of forums from friends that have been hosted there and they have rated GoDaddy well.

Thats a lot of space for the cash aint it! lol

Don't mind if it's in america or not really, just aslong as my emails work reliably I'd be happy.

Will take a look there and at the thread you mention (my bad for not looking before lol) any other recommendations greatfully recieved though :)

There are some great sites on the link I mentioned if you need Uk reliability and speed, but if its pure hosting you need and mainly emails, then you can't go worng with GoDaddy.

Ive had 1 query with them and it was answered the same day, their control panel isn't the best to use but you get used to it and don't have to use it once you get your MySQL and FTP details copied down somewhere.

freehostia.com - free: 250mb/5gb or £12/y: 500mb/10gb - both allow 2 domains max

the usual php, mysql, etc included in both packages

i'm currently on the 2nd package (needed the extra webspace) but i'll be moving soon as i need more than 2 domains hosted

I'm using streamline.net at the moment and they're really good.

They do a couple of different packages and assuming you dont need php/mysql which you may do if you're hosting blogs... but the home package works out at £13.99 i think...

Check it out.. :)

Sounds good for free! lol, your service good with them? Even the payed one sounds ok.

Cheers :)
refering to my post above?

yeah, its been pretty good! i used to experience downtime a lot a while ago but that seems to be all fixed. definitely recommend the free service.. even the paid service if they can gaurantee no more big downtimes.

There's a big difference between a paid host and a free host. First example is reliability, second is support.

Third is longevity. Surely you want to host your site with a company who are turning a decent profit?

In answer to the original question, you absolutely can get a year's good quality UK hosting for £15/year and it'll be a world apart from anything you'll find for free :).

Yeah maybe I should pay lol, I've had the domain for years and it's my main and most formal email address. Don't wanna risk unreliability with emails.

I pay £30 a year for 2 gig space and about 30 gig bandwidth with hosting-unlimited.net - it's not a bad deal, but I'm so so skint (debts to clear :( ) and just don't really need all that space these days, I only use the space for a couple of blogs now and hosting a few pics opposed to websites and my old DJ mixes etc.

Be nice have half what I get for £15 really lol - tried asking HU that and they'd not have none.
