The Chancellor announced the rate of VAT will reduce from 17.5% to 15% from Monday 1st December, but you don't have to wait that long at OcUK. We believe a saving in VAT should be passed on to our customers and to prove the point you can start saving today. With immediate effect all orders will have the benefit of the 2.5% reduction in VAT making your favourite hardware even more affordable.

Thank you for shopping at Overclockers UK.

They should have had a predetermined time wherin VAT is dropped from 17.5% to 15%. The way they have done it, people are just going to get annoyed when the government inevitably has to put the tax back up to fund it's budget defecit. Having a time, say for two months VAT drops to 15%, then back up again would mean people know when it's going back up, and it would encourage consumers to spend within the two months because they know they will pay more if they buy afterwards.

Anyway, thanks OCUK!

They do. It's reduced for 13 months. That is all. :D

That is going to be one crazy month when it comes, when it goes back up. I imagine things will be being sold left right and centre, especially if it coincides with christmas or the Jan sales. Assuming anyone has any money left by then that is.

There is, December 1st. Back up 13 months later.

Nice. 2.5% wont make a huge difference for me right now, but over the whole of 2009 i could save a bit :)

I wonder if if the lower vat will actually mean lower prices most of the time? Usually prices are set to be *.99p , so won't most companies just make more money and leave prices the same?

yes in some cases but everyday stuff like petrol, electric, gas etc will be were most people feel the benefit :)

Once again spie i love you !!!!

I dunno when i will order stuff but i will feel much happier doing so now :D

You are right but those are not good examples - petrol is going up by the smae amount as the discount in other taxes so there will be no benefit. Gas and electricity are only charged at 5% VAT and will not change.

But I reckon people will save £10 or so on an good OCUK order so that is good.
