£150 Android phone for the Mrs?

I'm looking at getting my mum a Moto G3. It'll be her first smartphone, so it's not as if there are any concerns of whether it's faster than current phone. :p

I was originally looking at the G4 Play, but the lack of Gorilla Glass concerns me a little. G4 is a little too big, otherwise I'd go for that.

Moto G 4th generation?

Ignoring the OPs screen size preference for a second,is the Moto actually any better than the SU6 ?
Last year the SU6 was the go to budget phone and this year its the Moto but is it actually any better ?
Is the only real benefit the latest android updates?

I would have said getting the latest updates and OS is a massive difference.

Also has fast charging, Gorilla Glass 3 and stock Android (almost)

I've now had 2 Moto G4s. The first one had the 'Ghost Touch' problem which was happening a few times a day, when it wasn't on charge and made it unusable when it occurred. Apart from that I reckoned it was a decent phone for the money.

The replacement not only had the 'Ghost Touch' problem but the build quality was appalling as the top half of the screen rattled and required a few attempts to register a touch. Looking for something else now.

Just bought my Wife a G4 for Christmas - hopefully don't have any of the build quality issues others have experienced.

Couldn't find anything else worth having around that price (and not interested in the Xiaomi's etc)

Does the Alcatel idol lag at all ? Animations etc ?

not that ive noticed .The three gb of ram probably helps .I have also had three updates in the time ive owned it which is impressive as it was running on 6.0 from day one

Samsung A3 2016. A little bit more expensive but best phone I had for a while. Used the camera on holiday and I think its on par with the iPhone 6 on quality of pictures.
