Hi people
I have a budget of £150 to spend on a gpu for 1080p gaming with an emphasis on cool and quiet if possible.
Second hand is perfectly acceptable to me.
So what do you guys recommend?
Options seem to be around 960/770 or 7970/280 am I missing anything?
Regards

I would look at the AMD 285 / 280, and also the nVidia GTX770 / GTX960. I think the 960 will be the coolest and quietest, though it's not as powerful as the GTX770 or, I think, the 285. The 280 has the most memory out of all of them but is the slowest, though not by that much.

Until recently the 770 would be the clear winner but newest games really don't like Kepler cards.

The 285 and 960 are similar. The 285 is only £120 and a bit faster, the 960 uses much less power.

The 280 has extra memory which helps, with settings but it's only really GTA5 and Shadows of Mordor that so far seem to really prefer 3GB.

At the moment I'd suggest a 285 and enjoy the £30 change.

*edit the 285 above is £149 the same as the others
Wow thats great thank you all new and in budget!
But which one to pick they all seem to have there own pros and cons?

Some boards need the BIOS updating to see newer GFX card releases.

Expansion Card Support cards up to 12.2 inches, width restriction 5.25”

Check card dimensions against this.

I'd go with the 960 + free game over the 285, it makes it better value for money.

A 3 gb or 4 gb card would be better for longevity though if you could stretch to something like a 280x. I've exceeded 3 gb on 1080p myself playing Grid autosport on ultra.

Is KFA2 a decent brand? Ive never heard of them so will cooling and reliability be ok?

KFA2 is the UK version of Galax (Formerly Galaxy) They have been around for a long time. Comes with 2 year warranty.

It's a 960 with dual fans, it will def run cool and quiet.

£150 with Witcher 3, great bang for buck.
