£150 which card for gaming?

gotta admit im tempted by this 7850 deal oc'd do u think i would see much difference compared to my 6850? its also oc'd to (850/1100)

The 7850 is the easy winner for £150. For a little bit more (£180) the GTX 660 is a faster card at stock speeds, but the 7850 overclocks much better and should match it for oc vs oc.

This was my latest change of card. From asus 6850 to asus 7850.
The 2gb of memory on the 7850 is a great advantage. It depends what res your gaming at i suppose as to whether it warrants an upgrade.
Personally im now able to turn up the details to near max with the 7850 @ 1080p and achieve 50fps in everything i play. It also scores a whole 300-400 points extra on the heaven benchmark OC`d over the 6850 :)
For me it was a great upgrade. And i payed £230 at the time. So for £150 its a very very tempting offer indeed. Im currently considering crossfire

im running 1920x1080 and cant see me changing that for some time tbh.

hmmm just dont know what to do i could go all out and get a 7950 (dont really want to spend this much though) or go 7850 burt dont know how long that will last before i need to upgrade again.

That's the thing. The 7850 will last a while, but you already have to turn the settings down at 1080p in today's games, and that will only continue/get worse with next-gen games.

I sometimes wonder what I must be like to turn all settings up to max, and have a playable game :p Alas, I am using a GTX460, so that just a daydream for me :p

I had to turn the settings down so far on Crysis 2, it looked like a Source engine game! Now if you're buying a 7850, that's an improvement, but you're still resigning yourself to games which won't look their best. Which is why it's such a tough decision for me too. I really want a 7950 :p

Yep go with the 7850 for sure, the fact is technology moves fast so you have to make your pick quickly before new components are releseaded, unless of course there's something worth waiting for around the corner.

yep thats exactly it,then you fall into the pit of should i wait for the next lot of cards.....lol but will they be as overclockable how much more powerfull will they be and at what price point! it just doesnt end.
plus there is the thinking of will prices lower even more now the 660 is out (i doubt it but....)

think im just gonna buy a 7950 msi twin frozr and be done with it hopefully that should last a few years atleast!!

ah now this is where pc gaming really comes into play as you continue your "journey" .. assuming you still in teh pc world you will probably upgrade ... which means in a few years those games you couldnt max out will now be at the point you can
