As title really. My brother wants me to build him a gaming PC and I was going to do something similar to my own system (see sig) but I don’t think it can be done within budget given that he needs absolutely everything.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks

I could do it with a 7700 non-X, since it includes a cooler, but over budget with a 7800X3D, since I'd suggest a cooler like this:

Sapphire's 7800 XT Pulse is £20 cheaper, but then I'd upgrade the PSU to Seasonic GX-850 which is £30 more expensive, so that's not helpful :o

Along the same lines as @mickyflinn . Just went for a different look. It's a new case by phanteks at a reasonable price that'll show off the pc inards a bit. Will be a bit spartan to start as no fans I think, so added the arctic 360mm freezer 3...reason, it's best cooler, 360mm will fit in top and so at least you have 3 fans also. It'll cool anything you throw at it so should cater for any am5 cpu upgrade down the line...can add another couple intake fans if wantto finish look put hit price limit

Alternative would be get the phanteks G360A case which will have 3 fans in the front already..you could drop the aio , get a reasonably price air cooler(but the price performance of the arctic can't be beat for aio's) and put a 2tb ssd in like the Spatium M480 Pro for £125 (make sure pro with read write of 7400/7000 with TBW of 1400...non pro a lot slower etc).
I'm very good at spending money. seem to remember that amd gpu can get quite hot in ref design, so maybe I'd look at getting a 3 fan spinner, either the saphire nitro+ or the asus tuf 7800XT, though uou then overbuget, but will fill out the case a bit also.
chucked in a 850W psu also so little room for upgrade..comes with a 7yrs warranty so should last

@mickyflinn @Tetras @Craig_d1

This build never went ahead and it will now be Christmas thing. I figured I’d necro this thread instead of starting a new one to see if things have changed from your original suggestions. Maybe with Black Friday coming up there will be some savings to be made.

The the only changed to my OP is that we have a monitor now with £180 coming out of the budget.

Thanks.

@Goose we're going to have to use the Intel UHD Graphics 770 igpu that comes with the i7 here, until a better dedicated card can be bought, sure, it wont play at high fps with the 1440 monitor until a dedicated gpu is bought, but my, will it look pretty!
I just refuse to buy a none OLED monitor when buying brand new now, as it is a waste of cash otherwise, when an OLED monitor can be had for not that much nowadays!
the motherboard only has x1 RGB header so on only one of the case rgb fans can be used as RGB, don't want RGB, okay, dont plug either in then,
personally, as long as your Bro does not mind growing into the monitor, I think that this is the best that you are going to get with the money! the i7 is pretty tasty, esp for the price
