Hi guys,

I'm mainly a 3d video games artist working a lot in zbrush/3d studio max for the most part. But I also play video games. I'm looking for a new build, at around the 1500£ mark, I wonder if this looks any good?

Would you recommend a 1080 over the 1070 in this case? If so, I would hold off for a little longer to save a little more money for it.

Thanks for your help :)

Jon

Wow, fast reply. Thank you!

Is that motherboard better than the Maximus? :)
Which cooler would you recommend? Are the Noctua's good?
I did wonder about the RAM, for some reason I thought that motherboard was Dual Channel, thank you for pointing that out. A question regarding ram, I was thinking of getting 2x 16gb sticks to have the option of going to 64gb some time down the line (if I ever need to) is there any reason why 4x 8gb would be better than 2x16gb?
The Quad channels seem to have a lower mhz, is that correct?
Thanks again Stulid, I appreciate your help. I built my current computer around 4 years ago, and so it's not only showing age, but my knowledge is too!

Jon :)

It's a great board, has everything you could need.

Both this and the Asus are dual channel, but a quad channel kit will work and just means you have two ram sticks per channel A+B.

X99 and it's cpus use quad channel ram for greater bandwidth.

But they also work with one/two or three ram sticks, but four is best.

As for coolers the case takes ones up to 170mm tall, so ones like the alpenfohn Matterhorn pure or black
