£1500+ gaming build opinions please ?

I'm going to pull trigger on this build this week. I will game and web browse, no overclocking, although may in future. I game at 1440p with ultra, and still have a ton of big games to play ie watch dogs, hitman etc Any suggestions welcome..

Also has 2 970s over 1 980, which I think is a better bang/buck card (only around a 15% increase for ~£180 more price compared to the 970)

Thanks for this advice, this is a tax write off so its either going to goverment or on a new PC as expense :) although two 970 looks good ;)
 
is hyper 212 evo cooler quieter than stock cpu fan?

also with the fractal r4, do the case fans need replacing? I see it has 2 below optical drive bays, does this mean door needs to be kept open?

The fans in the R4 are pretty good. The air comes through the vents in the side of the door opening, so the fan are in the correct place,no need to keep the door open atall. Though i wouldnt choose it in this situation as with dual cards you'll need better airflow, the R4 is a good quiet (server type) case not a good performance case. The Phanteks specced is a great choice, as is the Corsair 450D or 750D.

970 SLI will give you much better performance than a single 980, so its a good choice. The corsair CLC's (h100,h100i,h105 ect) will allow you to get a HUGE OC on the CPU (much more than the Hyper212, so the money is going towards better performance and cooler temps.

Thank you for this. I have had the fractal r4 for past 3 years or so ( aswell as r3) and loved it, however I think its time for a change, or stick to what I know hmmm

as regards to SLI, I have never done that before, but I have heard sli doesnt perform well in some games?

any tips for ram? there is so many to pick from
 
okay so now onto ram,

I currently have Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866MHz Vengeance Pro Kit - Blue

Is it worth going down to 8gb and getting faster speed?

what about ddr4? worth the increase, I could probably afford a good ddr4 kit if its worthwhile

I will do the GTX 980, I really want a single card and dont mind the cost as I will sell current parts on ebay so should subside it anyway

I want the quietest pc possible, hence choice for fractal design r4

Any good quiet psu recommendations?

I'm also thinking about good temps as I never paid attention to this in the past, my room gets hot as **** in summer

I have fractal r4 now, and stock cpu cooler with 4770k and gtx 780, here are my temps, do they look ok to you? If not, I may buy another fan to add to top vent in fractal r4 to exhaust air

The Hyper 212 is also a bit dated now and is beaten by cheaper coolers now (Raijintek Themis for example)
Vengeance Pro is overpriced for what it is really, take a look at TeamGroup stuff and also the Avexir 2133Mhz stuff
No point in getting the 840 Pro SSD over the Evo, I believe the problem with the Evo SSDs is getting fixed very soon and the Evo is a decent chunk cheaper - also the Crucial MX100 is great value for performance so maybe take a look at that to perhaps save a bit more wonga if you like

Thanks a lot, I have just swapped out pro for evo..

with regards to cpu cooler, I'm mainly looking for quiet/silent and heard hyper 212 is king for that
