Hi,

would you recommend buying a pre-built gaming system with a budget of £1400/£1500 or do a full custom build?

I've added parts up in the past and it's not much more if anything at all to get a gaming pc pre-built?

Here's a comparison of a prebuild I often spec, versus a £1500 full build:

My basket at OcUK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Oxygen - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, GeForce RTX 4060Ti Gaming PC (SKU: FS-1BZ-OG) = £1,199.99
    • Case: 1 x SYSTEM OFFER - APNX Creator C1 Blue Mist Limited Edition Mid Tower Case
    • Memory: 1 x Kingston FURY Beast 16GB (2x8GB) DDR5 PC5-44800C40 5600MHz Dual Channel Kit
    • Graphics Card: 1 x Asus GeForce RTX 4060Ti TUF OC 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card
    • M.2 Solid State Drive: 1 x WD Black SN770 500GB SSD M.2 2280 NVME PCI-E Gen4 Solid State Drive (WDS500G3X0E)
    • 2.5" Solid State Drive: 1 x Samsung 1TB 870 QVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 64 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-77Q1T0BW)
    • Operating System: 1 x Build Stock Microsoft Windows 11 Home Advanced - Systems

Total: £1,199.99 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Upgrade to 32GB of memory (+£40)
Upgrade to 7800 XT (+£102)
Upgrade to 2TB SSD (+£85)
Remove 1TB SSD (-£80)

Total: £1347.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,507.88 (includes delivery: £0.00)

The main advantage of a pre build is plug in and play backed by a 3 year warranty .

Self build , more money for better parts equating to better performance but the downsides are building , troubleshooting any potential problems, tweaking and setting up .

Comparison of Brother @Tetras builds above the self build would be at least 25% more gaming performance
