What would be the best laptop at the moment for around £1500?

Then you don't need to spend 1500 quid. If it's normal "office" movie and dvd playback something around 600 quid will do, unless you want a large screen. 15.4", 17" or 20"?

Basically it will be a desktop replacement. Not worried about the money side of things, just want the best spec available for the money in order to help future proof. High resolution is also important.

Acer had a 20" DTR, but roughly 1 hour running time, I think 1680x1050 resolution.
