hi lads/lassses,

Quick one (I hope), I need to replace the projector in my local village club, the old one was out of date about 3 years ago and the bulb finally blew last week, so I've secured a small amount of cash for a new one, the screen to project onto is 1.9m wide by 1.4high. What should I buy and is there an ideal placement point for the unit to be situated for best picture etc..? the source would be a sky HD box so no need for 4k (if that's even a possibility)

Cheers in advance for any and all help :)

Yep brightest would be best, it's a large bar. Current mount is on ceiling mount and indeed upside down. The current projector; projects too wide and some of the picture is lost. Do newer projectors allow you to alter 'aspect' ?

Sounds good, does that have zoom? sounds like exactly what I need, £1500 is flexible so if I get what I need for slightly more then it's worth doing, the rugby/football brings in tonnes of business for us :)

thanks

this looks ok, we don't need a setup for high end audio philes, just drunken cornish rugby lads :D whatcha think - http://www.whathifi.com/epson/eh-tw6600/review

ok, current mounting point is 3-4m from the screen and about 20cm from the ceiling, I'd guess.

That calculator blows my old and stupid mind, bearing in mind we currently have something utterly awful surely anything would be a vast improvement?

I'm so confused, I'll go take some pictures and measure some stuff, if it helps when we watch the rugby we have black out curtains drawn etc..

You are getting on a bit these days. Would hate to have you in my Battlefield squad now, Arthritic teammates are not helpful :D

Sure thing, grab some pics/measurements and we can have a play with the calculator for you. I've spent ages on the thing when I was speccing up equipment for the lounge refurb.

haha cheers mate :D

once I've finished this project we can look in the BF one

Here is the current setup, I measured it all and promptly got drunk and lost the details :p

fairly sure it was 3.9m to the screen, I was also discussing with the chaps last night that the screen is ancient as well, have there been any screen advances in the last few years which would mean we should invest in a new one?

thanks again :)

need it before saturday pal, I can assure you anything will be better than what we have, so if you could find one on amazon prime and give me the details I'll be eternally grateful, ideally want to start installing it tomorrow in case we need to get up in the roof and fart around with new holes etc..

cheers petal xx

cheers for everyone's help, in order to get things for tomorrow I went with audiovisualonline and after chatting to them for ages and ages I chose:

Epson EH-TW6700 Home Cinema Projector w/ Lens Shift 1 £1299.00
Grandview Cyber Series Electric Home Cinema Screen 120" 1 £799.00

Arriving tomorrow so I have a few days to get it setup, will update/bore you with the finished results :)

I'll do my best, normally I dont bother but the camera on my phone no longer sucks (pixel xl) so might use it as an excuse to do a few before, during and after shots.

:)

I had to do the install on my own, so had no chance to take any photos, but I got it all up eventually, managed to trip the entire building twice but the end result was very worth it.

Not bothered to take a lights off shot, but currently the whole club is mesmerized by an HD wildlife program, the picture is outstanding - thank you all concerned :)

oh and feel free to laugh at the sky box install/balance ;)

Need to get that light taken out! Well done mate huge improvement, can you not put the screen at it's lowest drop though? Still pretty high up imo.

Not really too clued up on setting it up optimally, it has a million and one settings, but yeah I'm sure someone in the village will know what to do and tweak it accordingly :)
