Hi Guys,

Can i have a quick spec check please. Just ordered a dell 2407WFP, and this system is meant to compliment this...

LOL @ stickrod!!! I sort of based it on one of your previous suggestions I saw in one of the other posts!!!

2 Quick questions:

1) The RAM is out of stock, any suggestions for something of similar or better performance for a similar price?

2) If you wanted to build a HTPC is around 6 months, would it be worth just getting a standard dual core for now, and then moving that into the HTPC in 6 months and putting in one of the new Wolfdale cpu's in this one??

Thanks again

Thanks MrMonkeh,

From what i have read in the OS forum is that Windows 32 bit only handles upto 3gb?? which is why i was going for the 64 bit...

OCUK doesnt sell the retail versions of Vista :(

Thanks for that, trying to hold off until the 22nd July for the price cuts, but i'm getting weaker day by day!!!!

If i wait until then i should be on paternity leave, so that will give me a chance to build and test the new rig!!! (just as long as me mrs dont find out, lol)

I just noticed that the timings are the same as the black dragon, therefore other than costs is there any real world differnce to these???

Thanks Stickrod and djcj, have now changed the Cooler, to the Tuniq Tower.

Now just need to confirm the Ram and i'm good to go...

Ok Guys,

This is the final spec, might change the CPU to the q6600 if i cant wait until the 22nd, and decide to buy this evening tho.... LOL

Since the drives are kinda cheap at the moment i thought i'd get 2, just makes things easier when your copying etc...

Hey Dudes,

I think i'll stick to the 2 x 2gb, as it will allow me to upgrade to 8gb easily at a later date if required.

TBH i shall probably just wait and get the e6850 in 2 weeks, as i'm starting to sway towards it. As i beleive the speed increase will benifit me more than 4 cores. Since i dont really do anything that intense, other than some basic photoshop, the odd VPC, and then Gaming.

So we'll see, the only thing that i'm thinking will have benefit from the 4 cores is the Virtual PC sessions......

I'll give you all an update once i've bought the machine, which will hopefully be prior to the 22nd.

Thanks to all of you
