Hi i recently got a bit of spare money so thought id upgrade my PC, my old p35 setup has served me well but think it finally needs updating :)

Could somone make a spec for both:

1: Main Tower unit + OS

2: Main tower unit + nice 24 inch monitor + OS

I currently have a 1920x1080 21 inch which isnt bad but i think if i were to get a high end card, games would be much better on a 24 :)

Overall im looking for the best possible spec for gaming i can get and something that will last a while. Also as im not that competant at building PC's im thinking about this prebuilt too http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-175-OE&groupid=43&catid=1917&subcat=

thanks to any suggestions.

Thanks a lot, that looks far better than what i was coming up with in the system config tool on the website :) The MSI mobo good for overclocking?

Nice to see someone else from guildford too hehe.

Yeah there's still a lot of options missing from the system config tool, the MSI is decent for overclocking, pretty much any of the P67 boards will hit 4.6-4.8GHz, just depends what your chip can do. I think most people assume 4.6GHz to be the standard Sandy Bridge 'safe voltage' overclock.

It's worth mentioning that a 24" monitor won't give you a pixel boost- you'll still be on 1920x1080 (or possibly x1200), but your monitor will just be bigger of itself.

You can flash them 6950s too, although it shouldn't be necessary! Don't flash a 6970 BIOS on there though, flash one that will unlock the shaders etc then you can overclock the card manually to a 6970. There is some kind of difference in the 6970 and 6950 RAM which you will eventually damage by flashing it to a 6970.

ok thanks for advice, ill do a bit more reasearch then get ordered by the end of the week, also looking at a 580 as i think that would last ages at 1080p.
