Hiya,

I want a new PC and have a little bit of money so thought I'd get some advice seeing as I haven't built one for about 5 years!

I probably wont want to buy another one for a good few years so it will need to last me! Couple of requirments.

Must play the latest games easily
Must have a lot of HDD space
Require a TV card
Also I would like a monitor. Seeing as I'll be watching TV on it the larger the better. I can add an extra £250 to the budget if needed for a much better monitor.

Don't feel you have to spend the 1500, if I can get a very good pc for less then let me know. I don't want to waste money, also, I don't mind Overclocking.

Thanks

Below is a starter but would need to change things depending on some other factors. The monitor could be one of many, depending on size and how much you'd want to strech your budget. e.g. OcUK Value 24" is meant to be great for the money, or you could go all out and get a 30" Dell but new games don't perform too well at that res plus you may not want to sit too close to something so big.

You can change the storage if 1.5Tb is not the right amount

You may not want Blu Ray but it's getting affordable and you're gonna be watching TV. Oh, I left the TV card off the spec by mistake

Performance RAM PC-8500 could be worth it depending on how much you'd OC.

Operating System needed?

I'm not up on the best mobos to get at the moment

Case depends on personal taste as much as anything else

Thanks for the advice, you've got a point with a 30 inch monitor, it would be good to watch tv on from distance but sitting so close to it wouldn't be great.

I like that Spec though, thank you.

You're welcome. But I'm sure there are some folks with more knowledge of the motherboard, RAM etc who can give some sounder advice.

Also the ATI 3870 x2 performs great for a bit extra money, although it seems to be lacking in some games compared to the 8800GTX/Ultra

Sorry double post.

How about 2s...

Basically watch TV on 1 screen whilst still using PC on the other (the GFX & Quad core should handle that fine) ;)

Hehe, not sure I would want to do both at the same time!
If not, my honest advice is to invest in a TV any size/form.

Tried the whole (single) PC monitor as TV & got quite irritated with sizing, etc. Admittedly it was on a 17-inch. But you see (or won't see :D) my point?
