thanks that looks great

what PSU would you recommend ? ;)

do mobos still come with IDE connectors ?

would it be worth having a SSD for the o/s and a 1tb for storage ?

Had to lower gfx and monitor to get it in price

Vista is great and it's the only option.

Although if you wait there's some new gigabyte boards coming out, which are a lot cheaper. Can pre-order allready. Which would allow for a bigger monitor ot the gtx280.

thats fine, 26" is prob a bit big for me any way.

are the coolermaster V8s good coolers ?

would a SSD be worth it as an o/s drive ?

the only other thing i need is speakers, my creative 5.1 are 5-6 years old but these can be a future upgrade

Do you want to stick with 5.1s?

The Aego Acoustic Energy 2.1s are highly regarded.

Hi Mr-White, I would personally look at getting a good Core 2 Quad system along with a nice 24" mointor and a good set of speakers. A Core 2 Quad system is definitely nothing to look down upon and it is still a great performer. In fact, what you will be doing with your system, there will be very little performance gain if you were to go for a Core i7 system. You may be interested in this article here which shows the sort of performance increase you will get if you went for a Core i7 system.

I have just done a specification for you, if you have any questions regarding any of the hardware components I have chosen, feel free to ask.

Now, I have left some room in the budget for a keyboard which will be entirely your choice. The corded keyboards are here, wireless ones here and gamming keyboards here. :)
