Hi I have a asus vg278e monitor and just looked in the information on the OSD and is 159khz good at 144hz?. Can you set it higher or lower like you can with refresh rate?.

Hi.

In the monitor info in the OSD in system setup it says.

DVI
1920x 1080
159khz 144hz
VG278e

I was just wondering if 159khz was standard for monitors or if I could change it to make picture better.

So your saying its a mistake the monitor is giving out 159khz?

159khz at 144hz. Should the 159khz be set to something else?.

That's the horizontal refresh rate and is not worth worrying about. The vertical refresh rate is the important one, which is 144Hz as advertised. You're not in control of the horizontal refresh rate and needn't be concerned with it.

That's the horizontal refresh rate.

That's left and right and that is what I'm having problems with in games and desktop. vertical up and down seems fine. When I move webpages left to right the text and lines flicker but up and down its fine.

Its a strange one lol.

The problem is not related to horizontal refresh rate. As I've said, that can't be changed so you're embarking up the wrong tree there. The horizontal refresh is dictated by resolution and vertical refresh rate. Do you notice any changes if you disable or lower 'TraceFree'?

Lowering the trace free or higher makes ghosting effect. I have it set to 60 default as any other even o 80 or 40 settings notices a lot of difference. 60 looks best and wish trace free was never part of this monitor. As I think trace free is the problem to tell you truth.
