OK need to replace the 80*15mm fan in my Asus Pundit PSU, the stock fan is rated at 27cm@37DB..., but I have found only one fan which is quiet, Sanyo Denk San-Ace, it's Rated 21CFM@21DB, not bad huh? should be enough to cool the power supply, as I'm running a 65Watt AMD X2 4200, 2*DD2 Ram, 1 HD, 1 DVD Writer, 1 TV Tuner, 1 Capture Card, Memory Card Reader..

So what do you think I will notice a big difference in noise compared to stock fan, also will the system be quite/silent?.., considering the only other noise is coming from the Hard Drive..

I wouldn't mess with a PSU personally. Also the connector inside will most likely be a 2-pin so be aware that you will have to mod that too. Specs mean nothing on fans really. The noise could go up or down.

Opening a PSU is risky, the components can provide a powerful shock even after it's unplugged. Also, unless you have a temp probe in there you won't know if your lower airflow fan is doing enough work.

Very true !! Can deliver quite a powerfull shock,be carefull

I was thinking bout changing the fan inside my noisy new PSU but decided to just get another psu, I kinda think there are too many risks, like something going wrong once you have change the fan and turn it on again. Still if nothing happened then, I would still have it on my mind that something may happen in the future?

then again it could go smoothly and you save yourself a wod of cash?

hmmmmmm

Well I'm planning on dismantling one to change some fans in a psu that will hopefully be here tomorrow. Its brand new so in theory I shouldn't get a shock, but am going to be careful anyway, will post here with results!

Wouldn't the PSU be tested before they leave manufacturing?

Its a £6 generic psu.... the ones that no-one should buy a they're rubbish
I doubt they test them ;)

I've litrally only bought it as an experiment, I've got some really old bits lying around and I'm going to make a computer in a box, just because it will be funny :)
Catch is I want it quiet, so a modded psu is needed, add a single 120mm fan and hopefully we will have a success.
(not a fried carcass of my body lying on the floor)
