So I just wondered if anyone could recommend a basic workout for me to build up my arm and shoulder muscles and to gain a six pack, I have no access to any equipment so it would have to be done at home.

I'm a reasonably skinny lad, I weigh about 9 stone and I'm about 5" 6 tall.

Please only post if your going to help :)

Any help is much appreciated ! :)

Unfortunately he's probably right, you really can't do anything at home without equipment that will give you any meaningful progress. I managed to get a membership at my local council gym for £18 a month 2 years ago when i was 16, it's really not that expensive.

Yes, go bench press your computer /my lord

And yes there will be a lot of starring to be fair, but heck, everyone has to start somewhere.

Everyone will be bigger, stronger, hairier, smellier than you. However, they all started somewhere too many in a similar situation to you.

The people at the gym who would stare at you would stare at you in the street also. The vast majority of the people that will be there don't care whatsoever what you are doing or what you look like.

Invest in a gym membership and a pair of headphones and do what you are capable of. Results may follow

I'm not a mega confident person, I'm not sure what the atmosphere would be like, wouldn't people just be staring cause I'm such wimpy guy ?

I know it's an intimidating place but we're all there to work out mate. No one cares what anyone else is doing, we're all focused on what we're doing. There were some really young kids in my gym today and they looked like they were having a laugh doing some light dumbbell stuff together, I didn't think anything of it. No one is going to point and laugh at you Dr Evil style.

They'll also be older too (a few you'll consider coffin dodgers). You have youth on your side, no better time to start than now.

No. They will be staring in envy wishing they started working out as young as you. Because they know if you manage to have dedication, you will trump them when you're at their age.

There's nothing better than going with a friend the first few times. Just get any kid to come along with you. Once you're settled you will have absolutely no problem going it alone.

In the gym I go to there's a fair few salad dodgers, people old enough to be my granddad (embarrassing when they are killing your mile times on the treadmill :o) and usually at least one numpty who doesn't know/care how to use the equipment properly. Don't worry, every one will be in their own little world or chatting to their friends. Anyone else staring at you will be same kind of weirdo who eyeballs you anywhere

This is very true. If I knew back when I was 16/17 what I know now and had the maturity, perseverance and dedication to do it properly I'd love to see how I would have turned out now. Half the problem with youngsters is they think they know it all and don't listen to those who have the experience.

Also agree with taking a friend. As soon as you know the layout of the gym and how to perform the exercises you won't have any performance anxieties about being judged.

Nobody will be staring bud. The gym is a very egotistical place with everybody thinking they know best on how to build muscle mass and all things gains.

Best advice in my opinion is to 'just do you' don't worry about everyone else is doing, learn whilst doing. You can read and/or take advice all day long and have no results 3 months down the line.
