1600x price slashed?

Seen the deals on the 1600x...however I have changed up my basket and going for a 1700.

1600x plus the cooler I was going for came in at £238.

1700 which comes with a cooler is £263 so I think for the sake of £25 I am going for this...then in a few years if need be purchase a better cooler and overclock if needed.

I thought an 8 vs 6 would give me a longer term option as I want it to last at least 5 years.

I have been tempted by Ryzen for a while and saw these but it is the ridiculous ram prices that keep putting me off. I have wondered whether to just get 8GB of slow memory and run at stock and aim to upgrade to 16GB faster ram in the future.

I see deals over here for an R5 1600X for $159 and then $30 off a motherboard to go with it as well lol. This company is often cheaper than other places for CPU's/Motherboards, but if AMD are still making a profit at those prices.... it means they still have room to give in a price war :D

As that a price plus tax though?

Spotted this too but lack of cooler is putting me off a bit.

Maybe a bit bonkers but following coffee lake release I've also been slightly tempted by some older generation intel due to the falling prices. Can now get Retail 7740x and x299 mobo for about £390 all in but the fact it is only 4 cores puts me off a bit.
