163" Anyone? WOW

I find it mind boggling that 100" are pretty accessible these days. Crazy to think about what's around the corner. Interesting to see what happens in terms of innovation when we start hitting the physical limit of what's practical in a standard home (if we're not there already?)

I've done a quick calculation. Said telly will be 8 inches taller than a standard door height, there's NO hope that's going to fit in some places.

I have a 4k projector with a 100 inch screen and I love it. I've had projectors for over 10 years now and whilst I love them, I can't deny that a 100 inch TV for under £2k is tempting to switch too

Yep I've been running same only over 120" and as soon as we get an affordable 120" I'll be ditching PJ completely at that point I'll be honest

Only issue is that the TV would dominate the room its in lol, unless you have a massive room obviously. But a dedicated room would be great!

Thank god Hisense are bringing out these TV's!

How do you find a projector when it's sunny, I considered going projector rather than TV last time, but didn't want to have to shut curtains all the time in the living room.

It depends what you're projecting on to. The darkest part of the image will always be the projection surface so if it's a white wall in a bright room then it's going to be pretty washed out regardless of how bright the projector is.

I have an old BenQ W2000 projector which kicks out 2000 ANSI lumens. This is a lot brighter than the sub £700 compact projectors (think Nebula, Xgimi) but still struggles without the blinds down and lights off. We've got a very casual setup projecting onto a white wall and a homepod mini for sound mainly for the kids to watch movies on the weekend.

I rarely use the projector when it's sunny. The screen comes down infront of the main living room window which has blackout blinds. The kitchen door is then closed. The only other light comes from the stairs so the upstairs window is blocked with blinds. The walls are painted in a navy blue colour and the carpet is a dark greyish colour. So overall the room can get very dark. I even go as far as covering the white living room door with a black bedsheet for ultimate darkness lol.

The times the projector is used in the day (with the kitchen door open so some light gets in) I find it very useable still but wouldn't watch films I want to fully get immersed in. But it's not too bad at all.

I have a Benq W2710 so it's not the bright projector either. I also use it on SmartEco mode most of the time which dims the bulb. It does have a "Bright" setting which is much better as you can imagine.

If you wanted to go down the projector route and are worried about the PQ being affected by light then there are lots of projectors out there that have higher lumen counts.

Go to RicherSounds and chat to them. Also "The Hook Up" is a great YouTube channel for projectors!

The hall in my place (Mid terraced) is a tad small. It is about 30"x 30" square. Door to the Lounge/Diner is to the Right. Left is next doors partition wall. Other side of the hall is the stairs. I'd have NO chance getting a 3 seater Sofa in my place even if I tipped it upright, let alone a big telly. I bought my Sofas from a firm that made Modular Sofas, Now that they've gone out of business I'll have to resort to Ikea

Having a TV as a wall would be awesome especially if the resolution was 8K or more.

You wouldn't need to use the entire wall as the TV, for example have the media playing on say, 80" in the centre of the screen and have the surrounding area displaying pictures like that would normally hang on the wall or a simulated window to the outside showing the Bahamas... Or have the entire wall showing an oceanscape or a forest a la the movie Aliens when Ripley is in the hospital.
