Hi people,
I have enjoyed rebuilding my 98/97 Specialised FSR and have had a few rides on it. However on cleaning the bike today I noticed they original Rock shox coupe Deluxe rear shock is knackered and leaking. Not sure how much damping (if any) it is providing anymore.
I have seen a rock shox monarch R at what seems a good price:

What are the best shocks in this price range? Is that a decent deal above?
Looking at mainly trail riding, lockout would be good but not required.
I am told that coil shocks are dead and air shocks are the mainstream, what would you buy?
I am assuming that as I have a rock shox rear already, the bushings will be interchangeable.. Is this correct?

i wouldn't assume that the bushings will transfer. a lot has changed since the days of the old coupe deluxe.

RS normally have technical specs on their site, might have to measure your current bushes and see if they'll work.

Great, went with the Monarch R, with shock pump and spares. Got it slightly cheaper than the link above from rosebikes.com.

Let's just hope it fits in the frame, might have to mount it upside down.. Will measure the mounting points in a minute and go in search for the right kit to fit it.
