What became of these on OcUK ? there was a couple of alternative for a few months, but I can't find them anymore.

I'm actually managing to top up my 8GB in linux, so since my mobo supports the 4GB sticks, I might got for the definitive update for this mobo/cpu combo...

Xilinx ISE, ModelSim, Eclipse, and regular make -j12 on large c++ projects. the first two are already memory pigs!

Make -j12 just tries to force it to complie across 12 cores... :p

You could try installing the packages with the -0s (i think thats the one) flag to force the progamme to be compiled with less things left behind..... (havnt used gentoo for a while so i dont really remember all the details)

Otherwise 16gig kits are out there i think... (though they arnt that fast as the lower capacity kits)

I ordered some on the 27 Feb, 09, and had to call sales. They had been showing as out of stock for at least a week on the website.
I would suggest giving them a call and see what they can aquire.
For reference my 16gb of OCZ PC2 6400-C5 cost £252 delivered.
