Hi

I have 16gb patriot viper 3000 in my ryzen build and noticed a great deal on the 3200 version of the same 2x8gb kit (£16 cheaper)

If I put these together am I going to end up with dual channel and frequency issues etc? Or would XMP just adjust the faster set down to 3000mhz?

Cheers

Ben

Xmp would likely run it all at the lower speed of 3000 although you could try manually setting it to 3200 with the timings from the 3200 kit and give it a tad more voltage

thanks for the reply, appreciated.

The other option is I found the 8GB 3000 kit, identical to mine but obviously 2x4GB instead of 2x 8GB. Assuming if I run them as matched pairs slot wise all should be well and use the same XMP profiles. This then puts me up to 24GB RAM, sounds odd to say but my thinking is its not going to throw up any crazy issues

Only considering this as doing more and more big video editing / encoding so want the extra grunt there as a just in case

Cheers

If 24gb is enough for what you need then I would say go with that to save a few quid and it should work fine.
