I'm not sure if this is right right kind of memory for this forums but....

Are most of these card Class 2? Will they be quick enough for watching movies on my new phone?

Thanks,

G

Depends on the movie, but most probably they will be fine, as Class 2 specifies a minimum write speed of 2MB, reading speed should be more, at least 4-6MB.

Taken from Wikipedia. Search for sd class specifications.

SD Speed Class Ratings
SD Cards and SDHC Cards have Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied":[7]
Class 2: 2 MB/s - 13x
Class 4: 4 MB/s - 26x
Class 6: 6 MB/s - 40x

Also from Wikipedia, search for bitrate video.

Bit rate (digital only)
Bit rate is a measure of the rate of information content in a video stream. It is quantified using the bit per second (bit/s or bps) unit or Megabits per second (Mbit/s). A higher bit rate allows better video quality. For example VideoCD, with a bit rate of about 1 Mbit/s, is lower quality than DVD, with a bit rate of about 5 Mbit/s. HDTV has a still higher quality, with a bit rate of about 20 Mbit/s.

Using this tool:

20Mb/s would equate to 2.5MB/s, which should be doable.

In practice, I couldn't guarantee it would work smoothly or last long without testing it, but it looks like it should work.

You can get cheap SDHC Class 4 and 6 cards. I believe this is a Class 4 card:

Kingston 8GB microSDHC Card (SDC4/8GB)
