16gb vs 32gb

personally, went for 32, even though i don't 'need' it at the moment.
Previous pc was an i7920 with 6gb of ram. An old pc and 6gb was plenty when i bought it, but then games started asking for more and more ram. Nowadays, they seem to regularly recommend 16gb. So, looking ahead, and for £60 more i went for 32gb. Not an unreasonable amount so i don't have to worry about that in the future.

Best results are 4 banks of ram. with fast ram. So either 16gb (x2 dual sided 8GB sticks, almost impossible to find) or 32GB (x4 8gb single sided ram, or x2 16gb dual sided)

I currently have 16GB 3200 RAM(2x8).
But am really tempted to get another 16GB as the same RAM i have now is down to £65.
According to Task Manager im using between 10-14GB RAM when playing games like Warhammer 2 and Battletech. I have 2 monitors and always have Chrome up on the 2nd monitor either browsing or watchign twitch.
Some recent games recommened 16GB RAM and at the current price....its just so tempting to get 32GB.

What about 16gb of cheap stuff. The 3200mhz stuff at £50 is stupid cheap
And 99% of ddr4 will overclock one or two bins

If 32gb isn’t much different in price then I’d get that, I’ve never even used more than 9 or 10gb, but unless it’s a massive saving gap then why not eh.
Another way to look at it is if it’s 2x16 then you have 2 single sticks you can split if need be, so you’d never have less than 16gb in a system and whether it’s single channel or dual, 16gb is better than 8gb

I went 4x8Gb on my main PC (two 2x8Gb b-die single rank kits).
As ExoMale said, it's nice to have the flexibility to remove 2x8Gb instead of 1x16Gb (where you lose dual channel).
Plus 8Gb modules will normally clock higher and be able to go tighter on the timings.

If you're using the system for everyday general use and gaming, then I'd rather have 16gb of fast memory with a Ryzen processor. Ideally, though, I would prefer to elect for 32gb. I got mine for less than £170.
It's surprising how much I've seen the system use, okay it's when doing some pretty basic content creation, but even so... well in the 20 something GB of ram! 26 - 27 on some occasions.
