Hi,

Currently have 8GB Avexir memory in my system which was a quick replacement whilst my 8GB Corsair XMS3 memory was being RMA'd.

Just wondering it if would be worth sticking the memory in there to up it to 16GB or sell it on?

System is only used for gaming and general internet usage.

my 295x2 box says 'requires 8gb ram' so I'm thinking going upto 16 might be an idea. God knows where to get another kit like what i have the geil corsa yellows 4x2gb with 2133mhz and cl11

Your GPU isn't going to eat that 8GB RAM, it's just a system requirement.

You'll be fine on 8GB, the only reason I got 16GB was because it was red and cheaper than buying a 8GB set new. :D

I have 16gb in my itx build and to be perfectly honest I just wanted to max out the board...I don't use anywhere near all of it! So if you can, sell it on! You won't notice the difference!

16Gb is handy if you're running some VM's. Other than that. I've only noticed it once when playing COD AW. COD AW is quite memory hungry but it's a rubbish game so I wouldn't base any decision on that :)

Lol it's not that bad! It maxes out my 970 ram though!

I have 16GB in my main computer and never utilise it. I sometimes run a couple of linux VMs but even then 8GB would be more than enough. In retrospect it was a waste of money!

If you're just gaming you probably don't need more than 8GB. I don't think I've ever seen my RAM usage go above 8GB unless I'm running VM's. Having said that if you have the memory spare, it fits and doesn't affect your system speed them you might as well keep it since you'll likely benefit from 16Gb in another year or two.

Given it's like £50 for 8Gb DDR3 new I can't imagine you'll get more than £30-40 2nd hand for it. For that price keep it IMO unless you need the cash or are thinking about upgrading to a DDR4 based system in the near future.

MOAR memory is always better at the end of the day :)

My typical setup is running tv streaming on one monitor, webpages on another monitor whiles gaming on my main monitor, normally with lots of background programs open, itunes etc, and i struggle to use a whole 8 gig up, it normally says im using about 6gig and have 10 spare. The only time i noticed i was running out of ram a lot was when it was been leaked by a badly written program.

I'm running 16gb because I got it back when ram was really cheap, I never get anywhere near to using it up but its nice to know I will always have enough, I wouldnt run a mis-matched set, you could however probably sell your corsair ram for nearly the price of some new Avexir stuff as the used prices of ram is pretty strong.

Amen, total ****!!:p

Been toying with the idea of getting another 8GB of Avexir Venom myself. Purely to have 4 flashing green lights instead of two
