hi all just wandering if there is much difference between the 920 and the 930, as in is the 930 worth the £30 extra

If you want to overclock past 4GHz or don't want to overclock at all, go for the newer revision (21x multi on 930). Otherwise, save your money and make a good use out of 920.

If youre overclocking, then the I7 920 would suffice. Most I7 motherboards can reach 200 BCLK to allow up to 4 Ghz anyway.

well i just built an 17 930 for a nephew with the h50, o/c to 4ghz and temps only 29 degs idle, so cant be that bad

Actually the when it comes to overclocking, it should be considered as this:
i7 920 QPI 200x20=4.0GHz
i7 930 (cost £20~£30 more) QPI 200x21=4.2GHz

So it's down to deciding whether the extra (roughly) 200MHz is worth the extra £20~£30.

Also a reminder that i7 overclocking are mostly QPI limited by the motherboard. So for a motherboard with a max stable QPI of 200, 920 will reach 4.0GHz max, while the 930 will reach 4.2GHz max (as mentioned above).

Or look at it this way, it's easier to reach 4GHz with 930 than a 920, as it require a lower QPI thus easier to get the overclock stable.
