17 games utilising 6 cores

Seen that before. Not exactly scientific so I'll take it with a pinch of salt. Doesn't make me want to rush out and buy a 980.

Pretend extra cores from hyperthreading would indeed count as a game will just see them as extra cores. Although of course the gain from utilising the hyperthreading 'pretend' cores will be small compared to utilising real cores as we are lead to believe is happening in this article. In other words a dual core with hyperthreading (so 4 threads) will not match a quad core with no hyperthreading (also 4 threads) in a game that makes full use of 4 threads - not by a long shot.

Supposedly* these are 17 games that already use 6 cores:

From your asterisk I think you already agree that thats a shocking quote from a supposedly reputable site. Half of those 17 are 10% or less benefit. AMD PhenomII is already >10% behind Nehalem on average in games, let alone the new Dirtybridge. AMD 6 core was already worse than an I5-750 for gaming.

Im not sure if these means that hyperthreading is or isnt considered 6 cores or not....

It will mean PhenomIIx4 vs PhenomIIx6. They probably couldnt afford a 980.

Edit: How right am I?
