17" Mac Book Pro - Any Reviews yet

I'm also looking for reviews, I found a user review here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=473306&tstart=0

If you are going to uni this September then I would wait a bit before you buy one. From what i've been reading apple might bringing out an updated version in June using a new Intel 64bit chip with something like a 20% speed increase.

I got that from here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=472989&tstart=30

So I'm waiting to just before I go to uni to get mine.

A mate of mine got his on Wednesday. The bad news first - two large scratches and a dent/paint chip on the lid. Not good for a £2k laptop. Must have been during manufacture as the box was unmarked and Apple package them up properly. The local Apple store now have a replacement screen assembly on order.

It's larger than my 15.4" but the same thickness and weighs a good half kilo more some of which is down to the bigger battery. The increase in screen res is nice. It's got an extra USB port over the 15" and firewire 800 which is handy. Other than that it's as per the 15.4".

I honestly still prefer the 15.4". I'd only be tempted to consider it if I was getting the 2.16GHz as it's the same price. I'm happy having saved £700 by getting the 1.83GHz 15.4".
