Now does £1400 incl del sound like a good deal for the following spec of mac book pro?

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4 MB shared L2 cache
2 GB RAM (two SO-DIMM) 677 MHz DDR2 SD-RAM (PC2-5300)
160 GB 7200 rpm Serial ATA hard drive
17-inch (diagonal), 1920 by 1200 High-Resolution
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor

Cheers
Chris

Thats what i thought. I wasnt sure if i should wait til after Jan 18th (or what ever date the Mac expo is) to see if they release any updates but im guessing i wont be able to afford those updates ones anyway.

Cheers

I had that spec, only I fitted 4GB of RAM. Very fast machine!!

If you can get HE discount then it's not much more than £1400 anyway, so it depends what you'd rather, second hand or the discount with an extra 2 years hardware coverage (than standard) ;)

if you can get education discount then I'd wait, there are rumors about an updated macbook pro at macworld as well as an ultraportable. I'd say it's worth waiting a couple of weeks to see what turns up then...

I don't have the HE discount but i can easily get it by getting my sis to buy it. Its a brand new machine from the states and its such a good deal cause of the exchange rate just now. I can still get the apple care if i want

From the rumors going around the focus will mainly be the Mac book ultra portable which is no good to me. Its my main PC so want the 17". The only changes to the Mac book pro will a blu-ray drive which i can do without for another year or so.

The same spec on the apple store is £1959.00. Even with the 15% thats still £1665.15 so id be saving £265.15.

Ive gone for it anyway. Even if they do upgrade them, i couldn't afford it from the apple site anyway. £1400 was my budget.
