17" or 19" TFT Suggestions Please ;-)

Hey guys,

My Dad’s after a new monitor.

He’s currently got an old 15” Belinea CRT, I know anything would be an improvement from that but I need some help narrowing it down a bit

I want your recommendations and experiences of TFT’s, between 17” and 19.”

He doesn’t really have any other spec, he just wants a nice clear picture

He doesn’t play games, but may watch a DVD or two now and then?

probably worth looking for a WS model if he might watch a DVD every now and again. The Acer AL1916W, Hanns-G HW191D and Viewsonic VA1912W are all popular and well priced. The Hanns-G has DVI which might help ensure a nice crisp image for him as well

Okay, I’ve just spoken to him and it seems the Hanns-G would be unsuitable because of desk space…

I got the measurements of their website; 46cm wide – and he says no wider than 43cm.

Shame, because it’s a very good looking monitor in terms of value and looks

What were the other suggestions?

Well got one a couple of weeks back (AL1916w) and must say its great, even without dvi!

AL1916WS, and damn, just checked the specs, 46cm :/ I think you will have to go for a non-ws

I just downloading the TFT product .pdf from their site and I can't seem to find the AL1916w?

Is it from the 'LCD Value Line?'

There's a AL1917As or a AL1916As and the AL1916Ws

The first two seem pretty much the same...

Acer is the way to go then for a good quality/good value TFT?
