17" vs. 19"

I've been thinking of getting a TFT screen to replace my antique CRT monitor, looking for either a 17" or 19". I don't know much about TFT's and was hoping someone here could shed some light on some things...

I have a 7800GT and whilst it will now run most games at the native resolution, in the future I will probably have to lower this to achieve decent frame rates. How will the 19" TFT cope with running at 1024x768? Will it still look ok?

Is there any particular drawback to a 17" screen? apart from the obvious size difference.

1024x768 looks fine for gaming although you will find text is a little blurred. Definitely usable though. The native res for both 19" and 17" screens will be 1280x1024 anyway so a 17" screen suffers the same problem at 1024x768. A 19" screen is better imo, 17" is a bit small unless you are sitting inches from it.

Its performance in games at 1024x768 was what I was concerned about. Windows obviously isn't a problem at the native resolution. Athough they both suffer from the problem at 1024x768 ,I assume that it would look less bad at 17" as the screen size is smaller?
