SpeedLink Medusa SL-8793 5.1 ProGamer Edition ---> Does this headset have an amplifier box like the other medusa 5.1 headset ???

Yes it does

It has a USB connection as well which is used for power only.

I don't have the ProGamer edition but I do have the regular one, which has the exact same sound quality as far as I know. I think it's great. The positional sound is pretty damn good, I can easily hear where people are coming from in games like Counter-Strike Source. Sound quality is good as well, maybe not the best for music listening but certainly good enough for games. I'd definitely recommend them

So would you just go for the normal medusa headset and not the pro gamer ones ??

Do a forum search for the previous Medusa/5.1 headset threads. There's many differing opinions on them, and somewhere in there you'll probably figure out if they're for you.

Yep, don't bother with the ProGamer edition. I think they just have a detachable mic, a USB power cable and a carrier bag over the original.
