.

lol, what a joke

Nobody gets offended by this, its just people assuming people are getting offended...like with PC MPs etc. They are making things awkward for the supposed offended. ie. When they were saying to take the England flags of the cars cause it may offend someone...it wasnt going to offend anybody, but they just made things awkward for those involved

I almost can't believe that... it's shocking. I seriously hope this growing insanity doesn't continue for my children and that whoever next gets in power actually put a stop to all this nonsense...

before they started arguing about ball tampering, pakistans mohammed yousef stopped to pray every time after scoring a century. nobody batted an eyelid, heartening really :)

Why would a footballer get cautioned for crossing himself?

It is a catholic action and could be construed to be provocative to protestant rangers fans.
There is no logic in the deep running hatred between Celtic and Rangers but there you go.

It is about as stupid and ridiculous as getting offended over some cartoons and I find it interesting that he was cautioned whilst people marching around with placards calling for executions and murders weren't. Hmmm.

Yup it sucks. That's religion for you, outdated, outmoded and a desperate clinging to the past with some religions being more ridiculous than others.
I'd like to see the back of such brainwashed nonsense myself.

Arrests were made ( Source ) but can't find any info on whether they were charged or let off.

You forget that in certain parts of Scotland someone crossing himself can lead to a whole load of trouble, especially at an OF match. Remember the same furor when Paul Gascoigne pretended to play a flute at an OF match years ago?

There's a reason why a lot of the NI troublemakers flee to Glasgow when things get to rough for them there.

BOB ON!!

I find it difficult to put in to words how this makes me feel about this country without getting a life ban from forums, probably all forums!

There is an under current of fear running through the countries administrative powers that we cannot offend anyone on 'our' shores therefore take a precautionary approach. there have been a number of threads as such on this forum, the girl whose shoulders were exposed in her passport photo, the muslim day in alton towers banning alcohol and gambling, father christmas and christmas lights being removed from our streets. but i have to say the the thread that summed it up was the aussies who said, paraphrasing 'if you dont like it leave' was great!!!
Now, recently on the radio 4 prog 'today' they interviewed a number of ethnic group representatives who were mostly 2nd gen. They stated that they were not offended and understood father christmas and what it meant to us, in the same way some of us dont practice friday prayers but understand their need to do so.

So why are all these policy advisers running scared clearly what we need is another steering/working cmmttee adviser panel advising the advisers and another level of beuracracy (sp?). those that find themselves in such position will vacate a role for further promotion within the ranks leaving openings in the service sector which can be filled by workers from the east european countries allowing the Mail, Torygraph and Express to further condem our country.

its all PC gone mad, a spades a spade, or is it a flat shovel?

as an aside, that idiot from Man city, Thatcher? should get a life ban for the shoulder to the face, not the first time either i hear, now that offends me! mostly football does anyway.

here endeth my rant

Weird thing is there's a little hell hole called Haghill with a clear view of Parkhead stadium where the people regularly have Union Jacks, red hands of Ulster etc in their gardens, the union Jacks wouldn't be offensive on their own but joined with the intention behind them being there to some they are. They even go as far as to make huge community ceremonies out of the burying of the crown. All in the name of provocation and nothing ever gets done about it, seems to fall into the blind spot in the PC enthusiasts vision.
Yet a goal keeper does a natural thing to him and gets punished for it. Football of this sort does nothing but fuel mankinds seeming need to destroy any belief other than their own. I'm not a religious person but it sickens me the way that we react... "Oh footballers are using the catholic/protestant divide as an excuse for fighting... ooh lets ban catholic and protestant beliefs from being expressed in public!". There is no attempt at understanding and no attempt to educate, at least not here in glasgow. For example an area very close to where i live had a new school built recently. It was meant to provide a replacement for the dated catholic and protestant ones in the area and have all the children in one school. But noooo there was an outrage in the community the parents didnt not wish their darling little catholic children any where near the dirty protestants and vice verca. That school is now a catholic only school with a silly catholic name emblazened across the front 'John Paul Blinkers set to maximum stun the IV' (note it's the thoughts of some behind these religions and not the religions in themselves that i dislike) or something silly like that. What sort of message is sent to our children when their parents are playing a game of hate thy neighbour? If you've ever seen any of the 70's films about the gangs in the Gorbals and the fights between the gangs, that is what it is like between these schools. The children dont even really know why they are slashing each others faces.

Just to point out, a caution has to be accepted as its an admission of guilt. If don't think you've done some thing wrong, you decline the police offer and take your chances in court, magistrates for Breach of the Peace.

Boruc has received an unofficial caution which won't go on his record but what it will mean that if he's in trouble for matchday conduct again he could be looking at prosecution.

As to the stupidness of it all, Yeah it seems pretty stupid all things considered tho there is much stupidity in connection with the old firm. Boruc should maybe have paid more attention to his actions and the fans who spend the other 99.9 per cent of the time hurling god knows what in abuse at players need to be a little more grown up.

The official line being taken the Procurator Fiscal is that the action taken was for his general conduct throughout the match and not for one incident in isolation.
