Just had a reply from a huge bird spotter from my old place of work - it's a sparrowhawk?

Not a big bird person, it does look more like a Sparrowhawk when I google it - I say kestrel because my dad once hit one in a van and it looked like that.

Yea, I immediately thought Kestrel, but following his email, it doe appear to be a sparrowhawk. A nice example of one too I think. Shame it's now in my tree and my batteries have ran out.

Thats a very big suprise to have one of those fly into the window lol.

Best i had was a little family of blue **** on my window sill.

I watched for aggges before they got spooked and flew off.

100% a sparrowhawk, got one stuffed in the dining room after it flew into someone's car a while back

Can you be sure it wasn't the car that flew into the sparrowhawk?
All sounds very suspicious to me.

We had one land in our apple tree a few month back. Bad pic through the window sry, looks like the same thing though.

lovely looking bird :)

We had a bird of prey land in our backgarden a while back to eat it's lunch - I had to dispose of a half eaten wood pigeon afterwards.

It's a lovely looking female sparrowhawk. Don't know why I've posted this as its been awsered loads but I was bored. :p

Looks superb indeed. I'm hoping my Christmas present will be to spend a day at a falconary centre as I think birds of prey are amazing creatures

It's flown away now :( I had a read up and it's no surprise I shot out of bed at the noise. They tail enables them to fly at a high rate of speed and it made one hell of a thud. Poor birdy. I was hoping it would stick around and live in their garden. No such luck. Unless of course he is sitting in a tree at the end of the garden going 'kek kek kek' to my cat.
