there wasn't a 24" model showcased at the NEC press event this last week (18/10/06) but there was a 26" model, the LCD2690WUXi. I've heard mentions about the 24" version though, but not seen anything official yet. I wouldn't expect it as early as Nov. I'll see if i can get any more information from NEC at all.

checking with NEC product line about the LCD2490WUXi for you too, see if i can get any concrete details or spec sheets :)
 
Well my 20.1" NEC is a dream, so I would struggle not to purchase the 24" if it came out!!!


Looking forward to seeing what it looks and performs like :D

official reply from the Senior Product Line Manager at NEC is that the 2490 won't be released in the UK. The LCD2690WUXi is the preferred option over here.

for now those look to be the best options. I'm still speaking with NEC about it so will see if things change. No plans for release yet though

£1,500 for a 26" monitor is certainly not a preferred option for me... what are NEC thinking? A global business not releasing a new 24" monitor in the UK when everyone is waiting for a better option to the benq/dell. Someone needs to get their act together and release some decent big monitors or im gonna have to start killing CEO's.

I've raised the same suggestion to the product manager :) Will see what he says, thought it was worth pointing out there is a niche waiting to be filled!

I may end up just using my NEC with this vga box for the Wii until some manufacturer pulls their finger out and provides simple 1:1/ true aspect ratio scaling. Heck, my £50 SDTV can do it properly!

Kreeeee I used to run my GC via VGA with a modified d-terminal cable and tbh it was amazing on a 21" crt but was lacking on my 32" LCD.

The Wii will not get a official VGA option but if the games are Progressive scan then it should be quite simple to pick up a convertor as long as the Wii does 480p (or 525p for europe) then they can be got for about £35.

If the BenQ arrives at some point I will knock up some shots of the cube Via vga (it should give you a rough idea of what to expect from the Wii)
