How old are you if you dont mind me asking?

If under 25, have you considered a young persons railcard?

http://www.youngpersons-railcard.co.uk/

And for anyone travelling with Children:

http://www.family-railcard.co.uk/

Both offer a 1/3 of ALL fares (Excluding 1st class)

Age in profile matey - 21 and aye I have a railcard. I logged into the trainline.com, gave them the details, said I had a railcard and those were the best prices, apparantly.

The coach idea is a good one, but I don't think it will give me enough time. I don't want to be turning up at hers too late.

Contact National Rail enquiries.. the often give better prices, not sure why.

08457 48 49 50

Based offshore but you cant have everything.

Cheers gimpymoo, you've been most helpful. I will have to ring them tomorrow morning, hopefully they'll be able to sort me out with the best itinery.

Book two singles rather than a return.

Once you get past 7.30pm the price decreases substantially. The peak time on that route is 2.30 - 7.30 so you pay a higher price if you travel in that time. I normally caught the 7.30 train when returning from London, and the outbound 12.55 or similar when going from Broadmarsh. So I'd say look at the 7.30 train. But bare in mind everyone will be doing the same so turn up early and grab yourself a good seat before they all get taken. You quite often get people cramming in the corridors sitting on the floor because the train gets so busy.

(And you can book on the midlandmainline website, there isn't any difference in ticket prices between outlets, ticket prices are determined by how far in advance you book, and what time you travel)

I believe between 1½ and 2½ hours.

Correct, you can normally get a 1 hour 45 mins to 2 hour train though quite easily rather than a 2 1/2 hour-ish train.

Cheers Carzy. A girl I lived with last year, he often had that problem. In fact he used to travel up at 7.30 from London and often sat in the aisle. I don't fancy that so I'll give her a call tomorrow, tell her I be leaving at that time (which helps me personally as I have a lab in the afternoon) and hopefully I'll be alright. I was going to book sooner but just never got round to it.

Thanks bud.
