I would make the decision based mostly on the resources available, and the quality of the department. The more established university doesn't necessarily mean a better course.

That said, there still remains this belief that certain universities are better then their polytechnic counterparts, although I'm not sure how the Nottingham higher education institutes fair.

if its a more renound uni then should move think of the 1/2 year as prep when he goes through it agian in new uni he'll fly through it better marks all good imo.

That's what I said.

Tbh with you he should move Nottingham uni is a very very good uni (not so sure for his course) but I think when it comes to prospective employment he will fair better than others from the lesser counterpart :)

I wouldn't worry about changing greatly at your age, if your mate was say 30+ then it might be more of an issue but at 18-21 it matters little. I didn't stick with the first course I did and I had to take a year out for the second so I'll be 24 when I graduate rather than the 22 if I'd gone straight through and I don't see it as a problem. I've met more people and had a good time doing so as well as enjoying my course much more.

I don't know about the relative merits of Nottingham universities so I'm just speaking in general terms. :)
