Hi guys, I have a friends laptop here running XP and the driver for the CD-ROM is failing to load. It's using the windows generic driver as far as i'm aware. It says the driver is corrupt or missing [Code 39]. Anyway to sort this out other than re-installing? The drive is a QSI CDRW/DVD SBW-242. I have searched for other drivers but to no avail! Thanks guys.

Rob.

Start Registry Editor (Start, Run and type in regedit then click)

Find "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" (and "UpperFilters.bak" "LowerFilters.bak", if they exist) value under the following key in the registry, and delete it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Quit Registry Editor.

Reboot.
