I've just built a new system, Intel Quad 6850, 2 x 8800 Ultras, 2GB Ram on Asus Striker Extreme MB under Windows XP Pro. It's NOT overclocked at all and running standard BIOS settings.

I don't normally run 3DMark2006 but did on this occasion to check the Cards were running OK. Anyway I got a score of 17K+ (17256 I think on first run, was slightly higher on 2nd)... the comparison with similar spec machines that 3DMark did was very favourable (really quite high) but a friends tells me that score is way too low and should be around 20,000 as standard and about 22,000 with slight overclocking..

Talking to some online last night they reckon the score is fine. Having not compared or looked at these before, what do you think, way too low ? If all the games run fine then I'm happy but if there is a problem I'd rather get it sorted out now.

mmm, sounds abit low but not anything to worry about. You'll only get 22k if you overclock your rig pretty severely.

that is not low and considering thats at stock that a very nice score. Don't listen to your friends. The GTX and Ultra don't do as good as the newer cards at 3dmark06 as there intended for higher resolution. If you overclock to 3.6+ you will easily get above 20k.

Thanks for the replies, well I just played Crysis and it plays/looks awesome. As that game was one of the main reasons for the upgrade I'm pleased :)
