18-55mm IS

Is the IS version of the Canon 18-55 kit lens that much of an improvement over the non IS version?

I have my eye on one not a million miles away from this thread, and since I have the kit 18-55 I wonder if it's worth the upgrade in terms of IS and image quality?

I think it is, I got one to replace the kit lens. General reviews rate the IS lens IQ pretty well.

I personally find it worth it for the IS alone.

never had the 18-55 non IS version but certainly no complaints with the IS one i have, good image quality from it for sure and have read that its better than the previous non IS version
